The Technical Services Engineer serves as a critical liaison between the customer, our in-country distributors, sales, and engineering teams to serve customers in the eastern hemisphere for the StraightFlo™ Valves product line. Work assignments and technical solutions will be coordinated with the StraightFlo™ central engineering team based in Houston, TX, USA. This role provides both pre-sales and post-sales technical support with a focus on reciprocating compressors used in the oil & gas industry.
The expected regions of coverage include: the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders on applications involving reciprocating compressor valves and related systems.
- Collaborate and coordinate activities with the Engineering Manager and Sales team to review project requirements, provide performance studies, develop proposals, and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
- Provide engineering input and support across the full sales lifecycle—from initial project scoping, site data collection, and technical solution development to implementation and after-sales support.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of compressor valves; collect operational data for continuous improvement and diagnostics.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and internal teams.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, field performance, and customer feedback to support product improvements and innovation.
- Contribute to the development of marketing and training materials, including application notes, case studies, and user guides.
- Assist with technical input for future manufacturing center expected to be located near Pune, India.
- Attend technical trainings and meetings with the Houston, TX engineering team. Onboarding is expected to include a temporary assignment in Houston, TX.
To succeed, you will need
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical systems, preferably involving reciprocating compressors or similar equipment.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with the ability to analyze and interpret performance data and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and collaborative team player.
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting reciprocating compressors in oil & gas applications.
- Familiarity with compressor system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance analysis.
- Experience in customer-facing roles such as technical sales, field service, or application engineering.
- Ability to develop training materials and deliver product education sessions for end-users and commercial teams.
