Application Support Engineer

The Role

Leybold India is seeking a Project Engineer – Systems responsible for supporting system proposals, coordinating with internal teams and third‑party vendors, and executing vacuum system projects from enquiry through delivery. The role involves strong technical engagement, project coordination, and customer support to ensure timely and cost‑effective project execution.

1. Proposal & Pre‑Order Support

• Prepare technical and commercial proposals based on enquiries received from the Sales team.
• Coordinate with the Systems & Solutions division and third‑party vendors to obtain proposals.
• Technically and commercially evaluate vendor and competitive proposals.
• Provide strong technical support to Sales during quotation and order execution phases.
• Participate in customer meetings as required.

2. Engineering & Design

• Perform engineering calculations to ensure safe and reliable operation of vacuum pump packages.
• Review and validate P&IDs, GA drawings, and other engineering/design documents.
• Prepare RFQs, datasheets, and drawings for bought‑out items and manage technical approvals.
• Coordinate design interfaces with Core Engineering teams to ensure cohesive system design.
• Conduct design review meetings to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards and work instructions.
• Engage subject‑matter experts and specialists when required.

3. Project Execution & Coordination

• Coordinate and follow up with Systems & Solutions teams and third‑party vendors on project progress.
• Monitor inspections and ensure projects are executed within defined timelines.
• Proactively communicate any issues that may impact cost, quality, or delivery to the Sales team and reporting manager.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and auditable project documentation in line with quality procedures.

4. Continuous Improvement & Compliance

• Continuously identify and eliminate sources of engineering errors, delays, or inefficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with company safety rules, regulations, and other requirements.
• Travel as required to support project execution and customer engagements.

What we expect of you? 

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in an engineering and project execution environment.

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of Vacuum Pumps, Leak detection and vacuum system packages.
• Exposure to similar rotating equipment such as centrifugal pumps, compressors, and steam turbines.
• Experience with centrifugal pumps, API seal plans, screw pumps, electric motors, and couplings.
• Sound knowledge of heat exchangers, filters, and other static equipment.
• Good understanding of piping systems, fittings, flanges, manual valves, strainers, flow indicators, and safety valves.
• Knowledge of gauges, transmitters, control valves, and on‑off valves.
• Basic understanding of quality documentation such as Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and NDE requirements.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards including API, ASME, ASTM, and related norms.
• Good knowledge in Excel/Word file, Good communication, Product/Application Knowledge. Build network, Ability to read customer
• Good command English/Hindi/Local language, Willing to travel.
