Your role

This strategic development role focuses on instilling best practice engineering methods, tools, and processes across the various engineering functions in the organisation. Acting as a supporting fuction with a mission to strengthen engineering management, product development and governance within the organisation. This role will also have periods, functionally embedded as part of global engineering teams to share best practices and drive results.

The Division

The Semiconductor Chamber Solutions divison is part of the Vacuum Technique business Area of Atlas Copco and was established in 2020 to focus on products that operate directly on the process chambers within the clean room of Semiconductor Fabs.  The majority of our equipment is sold directly to the tool manufacturers (OEM business driven) and we currently have four main product areas: STP turbomolecular pumps, CTI cryogenic pumps, Polycold chillers and our recently acquired Presys Valves.  Our headquarters is in Burgess Hill in the UK but we are a truly global division with our operations currently across the US, Mexico, Japan, Korea and China and sales centres around the world. Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following key areas:

  • Drive engineering governance for efficiency, transparency, and agility
  • Support development of tools and dashboards for budget and technology tracking
  • Standardise project frameworks to manage scope, cost, and delivery
  • Deliver short-term, high-impact projects
  • Champion structured design and VAVE best practice
  • Support LEAN, modular platforms to improve efficiency and resilience
  • Align with teams on proposals, business cases, and plans
  • Promote GECIA to align resources and ownership
  • Foster a proactive, ‘fail fast’ delivery cultureImplement risk mitigation and Plan B audits
  • Collaborate with aftermarket teams on sustainable support models
  • Support execution of engineering strategy to drive growth

To succeed, you will need

Qualifications/Education/Certifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline or equivalent
  • 5+ yrs‘ experience of new product development in a high technology or high change environment
  • Proven influencing and leadership capability
  • Project management qualification an advantage
  • Six sigma green belt or black belt desirable

Skills:

  • Proven ability to build strong relations to influence and develop and communicate a strategy with clear actionable execution plan.
  • Demonstrateable knowledge of best engineering practices (i.e. Agile, Six sigma tools, outsourcing, SW/HW/Mech development, DevSecOps, PDM, project/program management)
  • Bringing to the role strong resilience to overcome technical challenges
  • Ability to review complex technical information, trade requirements commerical information and think from first principles to be able to lead a team to achieve this mission.
  • Share a passion for engineering, learning and continuous improvement
  • Be action orientated and shown track record of delivery to commitments
  • Understanding of engineering of design authority rules, quality, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Strong global cultural awareness and willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong spoken and written English is required
