Mission

 

In this position, you will use your engineering design and development skills to prepare designs for electrical and electro-mechanical subsystems including controllers, wire harnesses, sensors and software. You will aid in the development and testing of NPD projects and lead implementation of electric design and development for all power and flow products.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Support the new product development design and development reactivities for the generator, light tower, energy storage systems and pump teams within Atlas Copco Power Technique.
  • Responsible for the design and creation of 3D models and 2D drawings for electrical systems such as wire harness, electrical control panels, electrical diagrams, etc.
  • Complete and maintain electrical design calculations and support materials for products designed.
  • Assist in the implementation of new software and controller implementation for New Product Development (NPD) and software updates for the field.
  • Support the New Product Development design validation testing including setting up and executing tests in an engineering lab environment.
  • Aid in electrical troubleshooting of new product development and production machines and provide manufacturing/production support as required.
  • Ensure technical regulations & Standards are met CSA, UL, ROHS etc.
  • Resolve quality issues using problem solving methodology and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Timeliness: Deliver expected results on time meeting gated project timing milestones
  • Cost: Deliver cost effective solutions and aid in cost reduction activities
  • Safety: deliver safe products and processes while working in safe manner
  • Benchmarking: execute competitive product analysis
  • Participate in mechanical and electromechanical design reviews.

Experience

 

 

  • 5+ years of electrical design and/or development experience in industrial, automotive or a related field is required.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis is a plus
  • Experience working with and designing with diesel driven equipment is a plus
  • Experience working with high voltage up to 600VAC electrical systems is a plus
  • Experience working with paralleling control systems a definite plus
  • Prior experience working with Portable Energy equipment is a definite plus

 

Education

 

 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

 

 

Skills

 

Overall:

  • Familiarity with diesel driven equipment
  • Other software skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required
  • Committed to accuracy and detail
  • Understanding of bills of material (BOM) and BOM creation
  • Willing to be hands on and to make/rework electrical components such as wiring harnesses
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems and using a multimeter
  • Must have a proven track record of positive results
  • Experience working with a gated NPD process
  • Must be customer-oriented
  • Good command of English is required. Other languages are a plus

Design:

 

  • Experience with wire harness design is a plus
  • Experience with specifying and selecting solenoids, sensors and other electrical components
  • Good command of a 3-D/2-D CAD software is required
  • Experience integrating multiple electrical sub-systems
  • Ability to read and design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and drawings
  • Experience with engineering release software (ERS) and creation of Design notifications/Engineering change orders

 

 

Development:

 

  • Knowledge of Diesel engine communication (CAN J1939) is a plus
  • Experience in creating DFMEA’s
  • Knowledge of software controller logic
  • New product development testing and design plan creation is a plus
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Experience with EPA diesel emissions is a plus
  • Familiar with electric test tools
