Manual Machinist

Position Summary
We are seeking a Shop Manual Machinist to join our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and machining parts within the shop to support daily operations. Your mission will be to contribute to CH Spencer’s growth strategy by delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent service. You will report directly to the Shop Manager and be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, bench grinders)
- Read and interpret technical drawing, occasionally manual creating drawings
- Machine, grind, shape, and fit metal parts with precision (shafts, bowls, bearings, impeller rings, threading shafts, trimming and balancing impellers, etc.)
- Measure components using micrometers, calipers and various gauges and precision measuring instruments
- Design setup methods when none exist
- Train personnel on machining techniques when needed
- Improve processes for quality, safety, and cost efficiency
- Keep accurate records of work performed and time required

Qualifications
Experience Required
- 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist
- Experience setting up lathes, mills and various machining equipment
- Experience with pumps (plus)
- Mechanical/welding experience (plus)
- Training will be provided.
Educational requirements
- High School Diploma
- The candidate must be able to communicate in English (read, write, and interpret)
- Machining/mechanical certification (Preferred).
Other requirements
- Must be able to pass background and drug screening test
- Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in a noisy, industrial environment using PPE
- High attention to detail and precision
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specs
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to focus, prioritize, and work efficiently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
