IE&C Engineer

Your role
Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Engineer
You are an aspiring or early-career engineer who is eager to build a foundation in complex electrical and control systems. You are looking to kickstart your professional journey with a world market leader in sustainable turbomachinery solutions, working within a collaborative team of dedicated engineers. You possess strong analytical skills and a desire to learn how to design, understand, and test PLC-based control and safety systems for highly specialized process equipment. As an excellent communicator and positive team player, you thrive on learning new technical skills, taking ownership of assignments, and bringing them to simple, effective conclusions.
The compensation range for this position is $97,564.90 - $168,112.15 annually. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual bonus. Atlas Copco provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave, tuition assistance, referral bonus, and an employee assistance program. Eligibility requirements apply.
What you will own & improve
- Specification Review & Application: Learn to review and interpret customer specifications, incorporating their requirements into safe, optimal designs while following internal standards and industry best practices.
- Design & Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality electrical schematics, drawings, material lists, and project documentation using modern engineering software.
- Quality & Performance Testing: Perform hands-on factory acceptance testing (FAT) on control panels and electrical sub-systems to ensure zero critical gaps.
- Component Specification: Gain deep knowledge of marketplace components used in turboexpander control systems and produce detailed, cost-effective technical specifications for them.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, and provide accurate, timely engineering data to project management, sales, manufacturing, and service teams.
To succeed, you will need
What you already know
- Technical Foundations: Your Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or a similar engineering discipline) gives you a solid fundamental understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- Experience Level: You have 0 to 5 years of related experience and a strong desire to continuously learn, self-correct, and self-improve.
- Software Tools: You are competent with Autodesk AutoCAD. Familiarity with Dassault Enovia PLM software, SAP enterprise software, and the Allen Bradley family of software is a plus. Familiarity with the ePlan software suite is a significant plus.
- Industry Standards: You have an awareness of, or exposure to, basic electrical industry standards (such as the NEC, CSA, or IEC) and Hazardous Location requirements.
- Core Competencies: You are a self-starter with a positive "make-happen" attitude, capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic team environment.
How Success is measured
- On-Time Project Delivery: Delivering accurate engineering documentation, drawing packages, and assigned project milestones on schedule.
- Design Quality & Cost Control: Continuously improving and simplifying control system designs to reduce costs while fully retaining required performance and safety.
- Testing Excellence: Executing successful factory acceptance tests on control panels with minimal revisions.
- Process Compliance: Strict adherence to department engineering workflows, work instructions, and documentation standards.
In return, we offer
What you will learn (if you don’t know already)
- How to apply advanced electrical industry standards (NEC, CSA, IEC) directly to turboexpander instrumentation and control systems.
- Deep-dive technical knowledge of specialized components and proprietary PLC-based control logic used in world-class turbomachinery.
- How to navigate internal cross-functional workflows connecting Systems Engineering with shop production, aftermarket, and project management teams.
