In the role of System Mechanical Engineer, you will be integral to the design and implementation of turbo expander support systems. Your focus will be on performing comprehensive systems-level design to ensure all components work seamlessly together. You will engage with various stakeholders, providing critical engineering information to project management, sales, manufacturing, and service teams. Your passion for innovation will drive you to continually enhance system designs—aiming to simplify processes and reduce costs while ensuring high performance and reliability.

Compensation:
The compensation (range) for this position is $94,265 to $123,198 annually depending on skill. Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench Company LLC pays based on skills and not job seniority. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. What you will own & improve:
- Engineering Design: You will be the sole Mechanical Engineer on a custom designed turbo expander package. Review and interpret customer specifications to create manufacturing drawings, material lists and other documentation for the customer. You will design machine skids, reservoirs and specify coolers, heaters, pumps, motors, filters, and valves.
- Technical Discussions: You will lead technical discussions with the customer and suppliers to find solutions to the project’s requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: You will create ways to improve engineering process by reducing design cycle time and/or reduce errors while keeping manufacturability in mind.
To succeed, you will need
What you already know:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth understanding of fluid control systems, particularly in lube oil and seal gas applications.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, and ANSI standards as they relate to engineering practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to facilitate documentation, and have strong skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design tasks.
- A commitment to maintaining thorough documentation of your design processes and selections.
- General knowledge of shop fabrication practices including machining, welding, and assembly operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, squatting, and lifting or carrying objects up to 15 lbs.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, as needed.

Job location
This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Santa Maria, California, United States. You will be integral to a dynamic engineering team, benefitting from direct collaboration and interaction within the company environment.
