Your role

The Supplier Quality Engineer works closely with purchasing, engineering and our suppliers to develop relationships that improve overall component quality as well as identify, vet and qualify potential new vendors. They will define a strategy and key requirements for supplier on-boarding, maintenance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement. Proactively work with suppliers before and during manufacturing process to ensure successful execution, resulting in on time delivery of high-quality components. When quality issues occur, works with internal departments and supplier to ensure defects are addressed in a timely manner and dispositions are clearly communicated as well as implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of supply.

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Define strategy for supplier quality management within Ceres Technologies that aligns with global policies and industry best practices.
  • Enhance current methods of supplier qualification to ensure a robust supply of quality products.  This may include development and/or modification of a Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM), Qualification Audits, First Article, Incoming Inspection / verification criteria.
  • Support manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, quality assurance and quality control to efficiently resolve critical supplier quality issues. Support ongoing Quality initiatives, i.e. Conflict Minerals, PFAs, etc.
  • Work with suppliers to improve product and process quality based on data analysis and observed risk.
  • Review nonconformance reports for correlations to identify high-risk, recurring, or systemic issues.  Manage SCAR (supplier corrective action request) process with support for Ceres Quality Assurance Team along with RMA’s.
  • Conduct root cause analysis studies and helps implement corrective actions.
  • Understand supplier processes and process validations to assure internal and external processes are adequate to meet specification and produce quality components. Implement and perform regular supplier audits.
  • Own, drive and report the supplier score card process while cutting cost of total quality in our Supply Chain.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain that may impact product quality or delivery schedules.
  • Interface with other internal stakeholders as needed to ensure critical quality requirements are adequately understood and documented internally, allowing vendors to succeed.

  • Domestic and international travel will be required (approximately 30-40%).

Skills/Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Excellent organization skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills required
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as organizational and planning skills
  • Experience with quality standards ISO9001, TS16949
  • Interpersonal skills — confident interaction with individuals at all levels of authority
  • Bachelor’s degree required in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline or relevant experience. At least five years’ experience required, preferably in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance or Supplier Quality position related to a manufacturing environment (assembly, machining, welding, casting, controls…). PFEMA, 6S, SPC & Gage RnR expertise preferred.

Salary: $89,000-$100,000/year
