Application & Project Engineer

Your Role
Bring your curiosity to work as our next Application & Project Engineer. You will be part of our Oil-Free Air team, reporting to the Application & Project Manager. In this role, your mission is to prepare and support application engineering activities for engineered and turnkey projects, while managing and ensuring the successful execution of contracts across Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Sri Lanka, and Mongolia. You will contribute directly to how we create high‑quality products and solutions for our customers.
Your day-to-day
- Collaborate with the Sales team to review customer enquiries, evaluate project scope, and prepare scope summaries for sourcing from both internal and external suppliers.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to vendors through the IC3 platform and approved external suppliers, in close coordination with the Procurement team.
- Work closely with Product Companies (PCs) to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and proposals are submitted on time, with competitive and commercially viable pricing.
- Participate in technical bid clarification meetings and support the Sales team in addressing technical queries (TQs) together with the relevant Product Companies.
- Develop and maintain detailed project costing summaries and commercial evaluations.
- Ensure timely order processing and coordinate with factories to obtain the necessary Part Numbers (PNs) required for order booking.
- Manage project execution activities to achieve customer satisfaction by meeting delivery schedules, technical specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Engineers to ensure all project documentation is prepared and submitted in accordance with contract requirements.
- Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual and detailed design through manufacturing, performance testing, and final delivery to the customer.
- Lead and support the design and engineering execution of turnkey project installations.
- Review, evaluate, and process project variations, change orders, and claims received from customers and Product Companies.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the Project team to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
- Manage assigned projects within approved budgets, identify cost optimization opportunities, and drive profitability improvements without compromising quality or delivery.
- Support Kick-Off Meetings (KOMs), HAZOP reviews, and formal design and engineering review sessions to ensure project risks are identified and mitigated.
- Provide regular project status updates to management and ensure all project information is accurately maintained in relevant systems and databases.
- Monitor and track project stage payments, invoicing activities, and payment collections to ensure healthy project cash flow.
- Track project progress against agreed schedules and milestones, proactively identifying potential delays and risks. Recommend and implement corrective actions to safeguard project completion dates and mitigate exposure to liquidated damages.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among customers, suppliers, factories, Product Companies, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience in the application engineering and project management of compressed air systems and equipment within the oil & gas, power generation, petrochemical, and other large industrial sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of compressed air technologies, system design, project planning, and execution. Familiarity with Atlas Copco equipment and ancillary systems will be a distinct advantage.
- Preferably 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in application engineering, project engineering, or project management roles involving engineered packages and turnkey projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, quality standards, budgets, and delivery schedules.
- Experience in coordinating with customers, suppliers, factories, and cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal and design stages to commissioning and project closure.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make sound technical and commercial decisions.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects successfully in a customer-focused environment.
