Your role

We are looking for a commercially driven and technically strong Business Development Manager – Mechanical Vapor Recompression Systems to lead the growth of our MVR business across Southeast Asia and Oceania.

This is a high-impact regional role for a professional who can combine strategic market development, solution selling, project leadership, and hands-on technical credibility. The successful candidate will identify and develop high-value opportunities, engage directly with customers and partners, lead projects from early opportunity stage through execution and commissioning, and help establish our company as a trusted leader in sustainable evaporation and process efficiency solutions.

This role is ideal for a candidate who wants ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to build a strategic business platform across fast-growing industrial markets.

Job Description

  • Business Development & Market Expansion
    • Drive regional business growth for Mechanical Vapor Recompression systems across Southeast Asia and Oceania.
    • Identify priority markets, applications, and customer segments where MVR delivers strong sustainability, energy-saving, and process-efficiency value.
    • Develop and execute a focused go-to-market strategy for industries such as chemical processing, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, solvent recovery, wastewater treatment, and Zero Liquid Discharge applications.
    • Build a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities through direct customer engagement, channel collaboration, EPC partnerships, and internal network development.
    • Position MVR as a strategic solution for customers seeking lower operating costs, reduced steam dependency, improved water recovery, and lower CO₂ footprint.

  • Strategic Customer & Project Engagement
    • Engage with senior customer stakeholders, plant managers, process engineers, consultants, EPCs, and decision-makers to understand process challenges and translate them into value-based MVR solutions.
    • Lead technical-commercial discussions, feasibility reviews, application assessments, and solution positioning.
    • Build long-term relationships with strategic accounts and high-potential customers across the region.

  •  Project Execution Leadership
    • Take ownership of opportunities from early concept through proposal, order intake, execution, delivery, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
    • Coordinate closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, service, application specialists, and regional sales teams to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Act as the key business owner for MVR projects, ensuring alignment between customer expectations, technical scope, commercial commitments, and internal execution capability.

  • Commissioning & Implementation Oversight
    • Oversee the commissioning process together with technical and service teams to ensure successful start-up, performance validation, and customer satisfaction.
    • Support troubleshooting, application optimization, and lessons learned to continuously improve future project execution.

  •  Internal Collaboration & Capability Building
    • Work closely with regional sales teams, distributors, service teams, product companies, engineering centers, and management to build MVR capability across the region.
    • Train and support internal stakeholders on MVR applications, customer value propositions, qualification criteria, and commercial positioning.
    • Provide market intelligence, competitor insights, customer feedback, and application trends to support product and business strategy.

  • Commercial Performance & Business Ownership
    • Own the regional MVR opportunity pipeline and drive disciplined follow-up through CRM and structured review processes.
    • Deliver growth in orders, revenue, profitability, market share, and reference installations.
    • Develop business cases and investment recommendations for strategic opportunities, partnerships, or capability gaps.

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong experience in business development, technical sales, project sales, or solution selling within industrial process equipment or engineered systems.
  • Proven ability to develop new markets, build pipelines, and convert complex technical opportunities into successful projects.
  • Strong understanding of industrial process applications, customer decision-making, and project execution cycles.
  • Able to communicate confidently with both technical and senior commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead across functions without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to build value-based propositions.
  • Comfortable working across multiple countries, cultures, and business environments in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, resilience, and customer focus.
  • Strong written and spoken English; additional regional languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regionally as required.
