Position Overview: Production Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to lead our production team at our Shakopee, Minnesota location. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage all aspects of the production process, including planning, assembly, testing, logistics, inventory control, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement, ensuring timely and efficient delivery aligned with customer requirements with prioritized focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end production order process once order is entered into ERP.
  • Collaborate with the order planning/ scheduling team by supplying relevant operational information, updates, and insights to support efficient scheduling decisions.
  • Ensure material availability and on-time shipment through coordination with internal teams and suppliers, with heightened importance to the Customer Centers.
  • Manage priorities across planning, assembly, and all manufacturing functions.
  • Monitor and report KPIs (hour variance, OTD, labor efficiency) and maintain weekly/monthly dashboards.
  • Drive safety and 6S culture; implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Forecast labor, materials, and shop utilization; manage inventory and assets.
  • Lead and develop entire production team; foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Represent Planning and Production areas in project meetings and customer interactions as needed.
  • Communicate any work stoppage that cannot be resolved with the Operations Manager.
  • Drive sustainability mindset for a results driven culture.
  • Through empowering leadership and championing a continuous improvement environment to meet the developing delivery targets
  • Contribution and execution of Operational 1,3- and 5-year strategies
  • Drive Manufacturing through Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery KPI setting and improvement plans, including overall facility and cell/department levels.
  • Manage the day-to-day manufacturing activities, from component receipt to product shipment, through the Zone Leaders and their teams.
  • Collaborate with the planning team to ensure that delivery is in line with customer demand and forecasting.
  • Attend project reviews to engage with New Product Introduction teams to ensure manufacturing facility is aligned for the future.
  • Creation and communication of recovery plans where components/products do not meet promise dates.
  • Collaborate and align with Manufacturing Engineer to ensure facility is developed for the future and continually improving.
  • Collaborate with the Deliberate Improvement team to develop a culture of continuous improvement through all levels of the manufacturing organization.
  • Strengthen the manufacturing organization, demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, competency, and organization development.  
  • Identify the future talent pipeline including succession planning by coaching, mentoring, and developing your team.
  • Ensure that the Manufacturing facility fully complies with all procedures governing safety (Risk Control Elements) and that the SHE program (Visible leadership, reduction of physical risks and reduction of behavioral risks) is followed ensuring the requirements of statutory legislation are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent substantial experience in production management will be considered.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and production planning roles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on ERP system experience, preferably SAP, with strong data management capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective teams and foster collaboration across diverse groups.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
