Manufacturing Engineer - Technology Integration

Your role

As a Manufacturing Engineer - Technology Integration, your mission is to to support the development, introduction and optimisation of future manufacturing and digital technologies within the Service Technology Centre. You will help bridge the gap between technology development, manufacturing operations and engineering delivery, ensuring new equipment, processes and systems are safely implemented, operationally effective and aligned with business needs. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Transformation.

You will

• Support the development and execution of CAPEX and current projects, including concept development, design input, supplier engagement, project schedules and safety assessments.
• Work with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver project outcomes safely, on time and within agreed budget parameters.
• Act as a key link between manufacturing and digital technology teams to support the introduction of future manufacturing and digital technologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects using manufacturing engineering expertise, digital tools, factory simulations, manufacturing systems and IT integration.
• Support regional STC operational teams and Innovation teams through regular priority alignment, performance reviews and technical input.
• Validate the operational and financial benefits of future technologies against business cases and agreed project objectives.
• Implement internal directives, engineering changes and service information requirements to address quality, safety or operational needs.
• Support VTPS principles, engineering audits and governance processes including permits, change control, CAPEX, PMO and related applications.
• Develop and share technical knowledge across the STC network, helping to improve standards, processes and best practice globally.

You have experience working in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, automation or technology integration environment, ideally within a complex manufacturing or service operations setting.

• A degree-level qualification in an engineering discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong experience working with PLCs, HMIs and industrial automation systems, including commissioning, troubleshooting and integration with wider manufacturing systems.
• Experience managing external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors and technology partners.
• Good understanding of manufacturing engineering processes, project delivery, safety assessments, risk management and change control.
• Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, Profibus or OPC-UA would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality tools and continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, time study, VSM, PFMEA and structured problem solving would be beneficial.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively from the shop floor through to management teams and across global stakeholders.
• Fluent English language skills, with the ability to hold technical discussions and collaborate across international teams.

This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Shanghai, or Langfang in China (CN). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.
