Your Role

In order to achieve success in this function, Mechanical Engineer must perform the following tasks:

 

  • Translating commercial, functional and technical specification into detailed design inputs.
  • Support Proposal Engineers to clarify customer needs, evaluate potential risks and present feasible solutions with our best practices.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to collect design required input information at the early stage of projects.
  • Mechanical engineering from concept design to final solutions based on predetermined projects' scope.
  • Cooperate with cross-functional project team members in ensuring the final design meets the functionality, ergonomics, and cost and safety requirements.
  • Take ownership to coordinate with relevant key stakeholders in driving projects to completion.
  • Perform stress and displacement analysis to deliver theoretical calculation based design.
  • Create drawings and bill of materials in accordance with company procedure, regulations and standards.
  • Committed to agreed project timelines and labour hours, otherwise raise red flag proactively when deviation happens.
  • Organize design review meetings with team leaders and other project team members.
  • Actively respond to technical problems in the manufacturing phase and perform corrective actions to ensure project progress.
  • Manage Engineering change and be responsible for the accuracy and update of mechanical drawings and bill of materials.
  • Prepare assembly-level drawings, bill of materials, wear parts and spare parts list before project final acceptance.
  • Trouble shooting and analyse root cause of quality issues to come up with solutions along with lesson learned.
  • Create, archive and maintain work related documents, such as design review protocols, customer visiting report, lessons learned, etc.;
  • Standardize and validate potential repetitive used functional modules to reduce engineering labour hours.

Candidate profile:

 

Education

                                                                  

  • Bachelor degree or above in Mechanical engineering, automation or equivalent.

 

Experience

 

  • 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in automation system projects in automotive industry
  • Proven experience in non-standard equipment and fixture design.

 

Knowledge

                                                                  

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, mechanical principle and mechanical drawing.
  • Familiar with parts fabricating processes, heat treatment and surface finishing processes.
  • Basic understanding of automatic control principle and components' features, such as switches, sensors, encoders, motors, etc.
  • Be proficient in pneumatic scheme design and components selection.
  • Strong understanding of material properties including high performance steels, stainless steels, aluminium, plastics, rubber and composites.
  • Proficient with force analysis and Mechanics of materials.

 

Skill

 

  • Advanced level of CAD skills in Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Solidworks Simulation.

 

Language

 

  • Communicative level (spoken & written) in English & Chinese (Mandarin).
