Production material controller

Mission/Purpose of the Job

The Production Material Controller is responsible for ensuring the availability, accuracy and effective control of materials required for assembly and machining across KyungWon’s product lines.
The role monitors material requirements, inventory levels and shortages, coordinates timely replenishment with Procurement and Production Planning, and improves material flow and
inventory performance to support uninterrupted production and customer delivery commitments.

Main Responsibilities

1. Plan and control material requirements against approved production schedules, bills of material, inventory balances and supplier commitments
   to ensure the right materials are available in the required quantities and at the required time for assembly and machining.
   
   
2. Monitor and optimise inventory levels for purchased, machined and internally supplied components by coordinating cycle counts, investigating variances and
   controlling excess, obsolete, slow-moving and work-in-progress inventory to improve inventory accuracy and working-capital efficiency.
3. Identify, prioritise and coordinate the resolution of material shortages with Procurement, Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse and
   Shop Floor teams to minimise production disruption and protect customer delivery commitments.
   
   
4. Develop and improve material replenishment and flow processes, including Kanban, minimum and maximum stock levels, point-of-use inventory, stock locations and
   replenishment frequency, to achieve reliable material supply with less handling, waiting time and excess stock.
   
   
5. Maintain and improve material planning data and transactions in ERP, including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, replenishment settings and inventory movements,
   to provide accurate MRP outputs, reliable inventory records and effective operational decision-making.
   
   
6. Analyse and report material-control performance using agreed KPIs, root-cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurring shortages and discrepancies,
   strengthen internal controls and continuously improve material availability and inventory performance.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience

• Typically five years or more of experience in material planning, inventory control, production planning, procurement or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong understanding of MRP, inventory management, stock control and production material flow.
• Practical knowledge of BOM structures, lead times, safety stock, lot sizing and replenishment parameters.
• Experience analysing excess, obsolete, slow-moving and work-in-progress inventory.
• Strong ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, Amaranth or an equivalent manufacturing ERP system.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Strong analytical, root-cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing, Kanban and continuous improvement principles.
• Ability to coordinate effectively across Procurement, Production Planning, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality and Finance.

Other Requirements

• Effective written and verbal communication skills in Korean.
• Working-level written and verbal communication skills in English.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple material exceptions and priorities in a time-sensitive manufacturing environment.
