Team Leader-Electrical & Instrumentation

Your role

The Team Leader–Electrical & Instrumentation Design contributes to Atlas Copco’s business results by leading and developing an engineering team to deliver reliable, compliant, and customer focused electrical and instrumentation solutions.
The role is accountable for technical governance, resource planning, and project execution while ensuring on time delivery, first time right quality, and continuous improvement in line with the Atlas Copco Management System and Group standards.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering & Technical Governance
•Lead Electrical Power & Automation Engineering – Drive the design, review, and technical governance of electrical power distribution, MCCs, HT/LT motors, VFDs, control panels, protection systems, and industrial automation solutions for compressor and package projects.
•Lead Instrumentation & Control System Engineering – Oversee instrumentation architecture, P&IDs, Cause & Effect matrices, PLC/SCADA systems, process control philosophies, field instruments, analyzers, control valves, and safety-related control functions.
•Ensure Engineering Compliance & Technical Integrity – Ensure all electrical and instrumentation designs comply with applicable international standards including IEC, ISA, IECEx, ATEX, UL, NFPA, NEC, CE, customer specifications, and Atlas Copco engineering requirements.
•Drive Technical Excellence Across Project Lifecycle – Provide technical leadership for bid engineering, detailed design, vendor evaluation, document reviews, FAT/SAT activities, site support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
•Advance Engineering Capability, Digitalization & AI Adoption – Drive standardization, EPLAN-based engineering, design automation, digital engineering, AI-enabled engineering productivity, data analytics, knowledge management, and continuous improvement initiatives while strengthening technical competency and innovation within the Electrical & Instrumentation organization.
Project Execution & Delivery
•Plans and monitors project execution to ensure delivery within agreed scope, time, cost, and quality parameters.
•Allocates and manages engineering resources, capacity, and engineering hours in alignment with project priorities.
•Ensures accurate tracking of project milestones, document status, and adherence to internal SOPs.
People Leadership & Competence Development
•Leads, develops, and coaches team members using structured competency frameworks and Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
•Ensures sustainable competence availability for current and future business needs through training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
•Creates a psychologically safe working environment that supports engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.

Stakeholder & Customer Interface
•Acts as a key technical interface towards customers, consultants, and suppliers for clarifications, approvals, and inspections.
•Collaborates closely with Project Managers, Service Delivery Heads, and cross competence teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Continuous Improvement & Standardization
•Drives process improvements, standardization initiatives, and engineering efficiency projects (automation, digital tools, and templates). Contributes to the development and maintenance of technical databases, checklists, document formats, and best practice guidelines. 
•Supports quality reviews and continuous refinement of engineering processes.
Job Requirements

To succeed, you will need

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
•Min. 10 years of relevant industry experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering,preferably within compressor or process package projects.
•Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
