The Project Manager/Estimator manages, tracks, and creates estimates for the Medical Gas construction projects in their region. This role will ultimately maintain and promote our vision of First in Mind First in Choice® among Class 1 customers. You will communicate with customers and coordinate with all Class 1 Inc. departments from Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Shipping to ensure project objectives are met. RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Project Manager / Mechanical Estimator
  • Solidify & build relationships with Contractors and Suppliers
  • Manage Project Deliveries
  • Monthly Progress Billing
  • Scheduling
  • Manage the submittal and closeout process
  • Project Coordination including RFIs and response to CCNs
  • Labour Control
  • On Site Project Meetings
  • Ensure projects comply to CSAZ7396.1 Medical Gas Standard
  • Closely communicate with Installation Team

 

  1. Medical Gas Mechanical Estimating
  • Perform mechanical takeoffs from drawings & specifications to accurately estimate project costs
  • Preparing & submitting detailed bids and proposals for mechanical medical gas projects
  • Researching and sourcing materials & equipment and negotiating prices with vendors
  • Develop relationships with Mechanical Contractors
  • Assessing and analyzing project risks and providing recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Perform on site project estimates in response to customer RFQ

 

LOCATION & TRAVEL

  • Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Travel to customer job sites

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in related field (Project Management, PMP, for example)
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Mechanical Medical Gas field with a solid portfolio of work
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract may be required
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check may be required

The Project Manager/Estimator will be a self-directed, team player with a positive attitude. You will be organized, courteous, precise, and professional with a ‘customer-first’ mindset in your interactions with customers, team members, and industry peers. A strong ability to adapt and work under pressure is essential. It is essential for the Project Manager/Estimator to be able to properly manage customer expectations within the realm of business capabilities yet strive to find better ways of providing quality and on-time delivery to our customers.   

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

  • Proficient in ERP Software (SAP preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (including Excel)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving methodology to be able to identify solutions to customer problems
  • Attention to detail and strong reading comprehension skills
  • Able to collaborate across functions and all levels of organization
  • Familiarity with 3D drawing software (required)
  • Able to read and understand construction project specifications and blueprints (required)
