Purpose: To ensure the manufacturing plant & equipment performs to the required standard and with high levels of availability to facilitate production targets of Cost, Quality & Delivery.

 

Scope: Reporting to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager. The position works within the operations maintenance team, however, requires a high degree of self-direction. Close working relations with all other functional departments will be essential to ensure production is always fully supported.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Use and maintenance of the computerised maintenance management system CMMS in relation to Input of accurate maintenance activities data, asset control and documentation, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules, development and implementation of maintenance processes and procedures, spares/Inventory usage, procurement and control, which supports business operations and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

 

  1. To respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns effectively & efficiently.

 

  1. To carry out planned preventative maintenance on all plant and equipment in line with PPM schedules, aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with a target of zero unplanned downtime.

 

  1. Liaise with external contractors and service providers to support maintenance activities.

 

  1. Provide maintenance support to capital equipment installation and commissioning projects.

 

  1. To work closely with Process Engineers to increase availability and effectiveness.

 

  1. Provide maintenance support to continuous improvement projects.

 

  1. Provide support to facilities engineering for external building / service maintenance contractors for (PAT testing, fire alarms, compressor room etc.)

 

  1. Ensure that programmed work is completed on time and to the satisfaction of business requirements.

 

  1. To ensure any concerns which may affect operational objectives is communicated to Process Engineering / Manufacturing Managers in a timely and effective manner.

 

  1. Assist in the introduction / commissioning of products / processes.

 

  1. Any other reasonable task required by the company

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Professional Requirements

  • Will have served a recognised indentured apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and/or Educated to ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have a proven track record in a manufacturing automation engineering role.
  • Ability to investigate complex problems and identify solutions.
  • Excellent fault diagnostic skills, fault rectification and minor programming modifications on PLC/HMI controlled equipment, with experience of some of the following: Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Omron, Schneider.
  • Experience of installation and testing of low voltage fixed wiring installation and switch gear (Minor works).
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic control systems and P&IDs.
  • Experience or knowledge of robotics in particular ABB robots would be an advantage.
  • Ideally with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Some experience in turning, milling and drilling operations would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience of working with CAD, Engineering drawings / geometrical tolerances.
