Your future job

Your role

What if your job was to identify the technologies that will define the next era of industrial innovation?

As an Emerging Technology & Innovation Research Engineer, you are part of Atlas Copco Group’s forward-looking research environment, where you explore, assess, and shape the technologies that could become tomorrow’s core solutions.

You actively scout the global innovation landscape, with a strong focus on start-ups, scale-ups, universities, and emerging technology ecosystems. Your goal is to identify early signals of disruption and translate them into meaningful opportunities for future development.

You contribute to early-stage research and technology exploration by evaluating new ideas and scientific breakthroughs with potential industrial impact. You help determine how these technologies could evolve into next-generation solutions within Atlas Copco’s strategic domains.

Your work includes concept development, modelling, simulations, and data analysis to uncover opportunities and knowledge gaps in areas such as gas compression, thermal systems, energy recovery, and gas purification technologies.

You assess both technical feasibility and business potential through techno-economic evaluations, feasibility studies, and experimental validation. This allows you to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and real-world application.

You collaborate closely with internal research teams, external partners, and technology start-ups to understand how emerging technologies can be integrated into future product platforms and system-level solutions.

Beyond analysis and evaluation, you actively contribute to idea generation, proof-of-concept development, and knowledge sharing across the organization. You help build a strong external network of experts and innovators, ensuring continuous exposure to cutting-edge developments.

You report to the Systems & Scouting Team Leader.
