Your role
Are you an electromechanical engineer with a passion for high-speed electric motors, electromagnetic simulation, and sustainable innovation? Do you want to play a crucial role in reaching Atlas Copco Group's science-based target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by developing next-generation powertrains?
What does an electromagnetic design engineer do at the Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk? As a member of the CT Motor Competence Center, you will actively participate in the electromagnetic design, testing, and field follow-up of high-speed direct-drive motors used in turbo compressors and expanders. You will oversee the entire development lifecycle, taking novel designs from early prototyping to serial production.
Your daily flow includes organizing lab test setups, test planning, and documentation to validate motor designs through practical execution. You support magnetic design activities, validate prototype parts, assess suppliers alongside Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) teams, and participate in thermal or material compatibility analyses. Additionally, you serve as a technical consultant for other internal teams and divisions on drivetrain-related challenges. To achieve optimal results, you will leverage state-of-the-art CAD/CAE/FEM and PDM tools. You will work via our hybrid model at our site in Wilrijk.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with background or experience in electromagnetic design

Experience in the electric motor manufacturing industry is considered a strong asset

Proficiency with electromagnetic analysis software (such as Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD, or Magnet) and mathematical computation packages (preferably MATLAB)

Familiarity with 3D CAD systems (such as CATIA or Inventor) and MS Office 365 tools

Industrially oriented team player with a creative, curious, and hands-on approach to technical problem-solving

Preparedness to take ownership and lead small projects or project-related tasks

Fluent communication skills in English; willingness to learn Dutch in practice if it is not your native language

Job location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our site in Wilrijk.
