Your role

Working on magnetically levitated (maglev) turbos means operating in a high-tech environment with exposure to the latest advancements in aerodynamic design, high-speed electric motors, and active magnetic bearings. In this role, you will lead maglev turbo development projects from the design phase through to the start of serial production. You will manage an international, multidisciplinary project team and report to the engineering team leader. Depending on the technical complexity of the project and your expertise, you may collaborate with a principal engineer responsible for the technical concept, while remaining fully accountable for delivering the project according to its technical specifications, timeline, and budget.

Product design and testing take place in Antwerp (BE), where you will be based, with occasional travel to our production sites around the world.

Within the Airtec engineering department, we expect adherence to internal product development process guidelines and a strong commitment to project delivery, even when challenges arise, with timely escalation of any critical issues. Decisions are made based on facts and data, ensuring that all project team members are involved and heard in the process. Furthermore, you are expected to actively engage and empower all members of your project team.

  • Master of engineering degree
  • 3 years of experience in a product development environment and a proven track record of leading full projects or substantial work packages
  • Experience with agile and knowledge-based project management methods
  • Experience in the domain of (turbo) compressors or motor design is a plus
  • Fluent communication in dutch or english and willing to learn dutch

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our atlas copco airpower site in Wilrijk; Antwerp, Belgium (BE).
