Your Role You will be part of a team developing the latest generation of oil-injected screw compressors (90kW–500kW).
In the development process of new compressor, your focus will be on the simulation and implementation of new technologies and innovations. You will be or become a technical expert in a set of mechanical systems containing the new technologies and innovations; for which you will be the central point of contact within our global organization. An extra asset of your role will be the legal safeguarding of these technologies through patent analysis and patent applications.

You work in an engineering project team with designers, engineers and colleagues in the prototype test lab. You also interact with colleagues from other departments (purchasing, production, quality, service, etc.), colleagues from other worldwide global company entities and with suppliers.

 

This dual role combines thermo- & fluid dynamic expertise, modelling and simulation, with mechanical project engineering responsibilities.

 

Thermo & Fluid dynamic Calculation Engineer Responsibilities

 

· Research and investigate new technologies (building and sharing expertise), including check of freedom to operate & patentability.

· Develop and validate (by definition of the required tests) models for heat transfer, fluid dynamics and power consumption.

· Collaborate with design teams to integrate thermodynamic insights into mechanical systems.

· Apply international standards and regulations related to energy efficiency and thermal performance.

 

Mechanical Project Engineer Responsibilities

 

· Lead the mechanical design and development of compressor subsystems.

· Define technical specifications and conduct risk analyses.

· Coordinate internal design studies and oversee prototype assembly/testing.

· Interact with suppliers and cross-functional teams (production, service, purchasing).

· Monitor and update technical documentation (BOMs, specifications).

· Support production and customer service teams with technical problem-solving.

· Propose improvements for existing designs to enhance quality and maintainability.

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Thermodynamics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a product development environment is an asset.
  • Experience with simulation software, preferably Matlab & knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • CAD skills: Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD is essential, experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Analytical and innovative mindset with attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive “can-do” attitude and eagerness to learn.
