Technology engineer

Your role
What does a technology engineer do at the forefront of compressor innovation? How do you translate new ideas into future product technologies?
As a technology engineer within the Airtec R&D department at Atlas Copco Group, you contribute to the early stages of innovation within the Compressor Technique business area. You explore and evaluate new compression technologies and support the development of next-generation solutions that will shape the future product portfolio.
In this role, you assess new machine concepts and analyse their technical and business potential using calculations, modelling, and simulations. You also participate in or lead early prototype development activities, working closely with specialists from different engineering domains. By collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you gain a broad perspective on the company’s current and future technologies while developing in-depth technical expertise.
As technology engineer, you contribute to prototype testing activities by defining test plans, supporting test engineers during experimental campaigns, analysing test data, and translating the results into improved prototype designs. You play an active role in identifying new technological opportunities and potential risks for the business.
You also help define technology roadmaps and contribute to protecting innovations through intellectual property activities. Throughout the development process, you present technical findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders and decision-making committees.

- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or another engineering or exact science discipline. A PhD is a plus.
- Knowledge of modelling or simulation tools such as MATLAB or similar software.
- Strong understanding of mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and curiosity to explore new approaches.
- Professional communication skills in English; Dutch is considered a plus.

Job location
This role is mainly based on site at our office in Wilrijk, Belgium, where you will work closely with a dynamic team and benefit from face-to-face collaboration.
