Business Controller, Product Company Japan (in Yachiyo)

Your role
-Track and analyze R&D project expenditures, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
-Monitor actual costs versus budgeted/forecasted costs, identifying variances and root causes
-Work with R&D teams to ensure accurate allocation and documentation of project costs.
-Maintain cost records and support compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
-Collaborate with R&D to develop annual and project-level R&D budgets.
-Prepare rolling forecasts and update projections based on project progress and market changes.
-Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis for new and ongoing R&D initiatives.
-Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
-Support implementation of cost control measures, such as phased prototyping.
-Communicate financial risks and opportunities to R&D and finance leadership teams.
-Assist with audits and provide documentation for regulatory or tax compliance as needed.
-Develop annual Capex budgets in collaboration with all departments.
-Prepare and present regular reports on Capex spending, forecasts, and key financial metrics to managements.
-Supervise treasury and administrative tasks done by local financial analyst and GBS
To succeed, you will need
-Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (CPA/CMA preferred)
-Manufacturing cost analysis or plant finance experience, preferably in a senior role
-Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, standard costing systems, and variance analysis techniques
-Knowledge of Janapese accounting/tax regulations
-Familiary with local treasury operations
-Advanced proficiency with ERP as well as Microsoft Excel and BI reporting tools.
-Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proven ability to explain financial data to operational teams.
-Detail-oriented, highly organized, and adaptable to evolving business needs.
-Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
-Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
