Your Role
- Plan, lead and drive all the project activities (technical & development activities, project status reporting to monthly project review meeting (PCM), lead weekly cross functional project team meeting (PTM), project budget spending follow up, follow up project related activities of relevant departments, etc.) making sure all project deliverables are met within an agreed time line and in accordance with the Industrial Vacuum Product Commercialization Process (PCP IV)
- Identify and resolve resource planning issues across projects, suggest changes in the organization of work and identify and resolve potential issues and hotspots to ensure the smooth functioning of the projects to ensure projects are delivered to time and budget.
- Produce multibranded documentation on novel systems, solutions and projects according to standards, producing documentation and test reports as necessary and publishing them on internal systems so that they can be retrieved by other interested parties when required and published outside of the Industrial vacuum Division if required.
- Guide testing in house and on site for novel solutions, resolving problems as they arise, to provide intended test data and reports from experimental design and then determine necessary next actions from the results, making appropriate recommendations.
- Undertakes or supports complex analysis of test data from own work or from other team members or from other research to derive conclusions, recommendations and/or new product design iterations.
- Develops new ideas and solutions for a given product to enable the overall product to meet specification and costs and reliability
- Develops new ideas and solutions to improve practices and procedures within the technical team and overall project team. Provides technical guidance/supervision to less experienced staff.
- Responsible for providing first and second level Technical Support for a given range of products or features within products, both internally to Operations/Service and externally to customers. This requires establishing and driving technical support once the product is launched liaising with other technical support groups as required. Product support might be continued even after project closure.
- Support and improve existing products by stimulating cross-functional co-operation and team building, responsible for the engineering change mechanism and selecting product improvement projects to reduce warranty costs, meet business objectives and improve customer satisfaction.
- Ensures that all areas under their direct control are conducted and work in a safe and effective manner in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety policy and ensure that the requirements under Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act are met.

- Actively support all other PC departments in reaching the joint company targets or whenever the business requires your assistance.
To succeed, you will need
- Multiple years of experience in the area of product development and/or technical support, preferable within the Leybold/Edwards/Atlas Copco group
- Experience with & knowledge relating to rotating machinery and/or dry vacuum pump technology and/or basic electrical knowledge is beneficial.
- Good level of knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Analytical and modelling capabilities
- Proven record of practical experience of relevant experimental techniques, FMEA’s, reliability testing, the process of product design and the introduction of new products to production.
- Experience in New Product Introductions and technology development programs
- Experience and knowledge on key technologies essential in the design of mechanical machinery, with preference to rotating type machinery.
- Experience in a number of the following areas: heat transfer and thermodynamics, rotating element bearings, lubrication systems, electric motors, gearboxes, small clearance mechanisms, vacuum technology
- An excellent level of project management
- Good experience and usage level of the key MS office packages, e.g MS Excel, Words, Powerpoint
- FMEA and other risk management tools and techniques
- Knowledge in CAE modelling techniques, such as clearance or FEA
- Experience with legislative and regulatory standards
- Knowledge in fluid dynamics/chemistry process would be perferrable
