Lab Engineer

Your role

Major Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• define with Project Leader and CP R&D the most suitable evaluation plan for new product validation.
• define with Technical Support team and CP R&D the most suitable evaluation plan for product failure analysis and product improvement validation.
• ensure that the best combination [equipment – procedure] is set-up for product evaluation. If lab equipment or know-how is not sufficient, external or group support must be considered.
• maintain lab equipment in proper order to be always operational to run evaluation tests until completion without failure.
• define and validate yearly investment plan for new equipment required for lab activities.
• communicating lead time for test completion and giving regular feedback to Project Leader or Technical Support team. In case of any deviation, requester should be informed as soon as deviation is identified (test conditions, lead time), and action plan should be submitted to R&D manager for approval.
• ensuring test results are well documented and all correct in test report. (Test details, measurement data, results analysis and recommendations)
• submitting report for validation to R&D manager after report is complete.
• communicating validated report to Project Leader or Technical Support team.
• ensuring that all risks concerning product quality have been assessed and understood by Project Leader or Technical Support team in a timely manner.
• following up lab activities and reporting to R&D manager
• confirm lab priorities with R&D manager.

To succeed, you will need

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3 years above experience in a product validation related field, preferably mechanical validation, is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

• Good knowledge about measurement (physical, mechanical), theory and equipment setting.
• Good knowledge about data analysis and problem solving, theory and conclusion sharing.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical design.
• Good understanding of safety practice.
• Good understanding of safety requirement in ISO standard.
• Basic understanding of industrial manufacturing processes.
• Basic understanding of VBA.
• Basic understanding of 3D-CAD software (preferably Creo/ProEngineer).
• Understanding of automation and electronic design is a plus.
• Perfect understanding of MS office.
• Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese (Mandarin): technical level.
• French speaking or reading is a plus.
