Software Engineer

Your role

As a Software Engineer, your mission is to [As Edwards VSS strengthens its technical support and solution capabilities for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing customers, the team requires stronger software productization and engineering delivery capability.]. 1. Industrial Software & Application Development

• Own requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, release and maintenance for monitoring, diagnostics, configuration, maintenance assistance, analytics and service workflow applications.

• Develop desktop, web, backend or edge applications and select architectures appropriate to industrial operating constraints.

• Convert equipment behavior, alarm logic, fault trees, maintenance knowledge and engineering calculations into testable software functions.

• Transform scripts and prototypes into standardized, modular and reusable solutions.

2. Architecture, Interfaces & Integration

• Design modules, APIs, data models, configuration, logging and exception-handling mechanisms for maintainability and scale.

• Integrate with equipment controllers, PLCs, IoT/edge gateways, databases, remote monitoring platforms and enterprise IT systems.

• Support common interfaces such as Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, MQTT, TCP/IP and REST APIs.

• Evaluate third-party, open-source and internal platforms and define integration boundaries and lifecycle plans.

3. Software Quality, Testing & Release

• Establish and execute code review, unit, integration, system and user acceptance testing.

• Maintain Git workflows, CI/CD, versioning, dependency management, release packages and rollback mechanisms.

• Ensure traceability across requirements, defects, changes and releases.

• Lead root-cause analysis and continuously improve reliability, performance, diagnosability and usability.

4. Data, Analytics & Intelligent Applications

• Design structures and access patterns for operating, alarm, maintenance, configuration and service data.

• Develop data cleansing, feature extraction, trend analysis, rule-based diagnostics and reporting foundations for predictive maintenance, energy optimization and AI-assisted diagnostics.

• Work with data/AI teams to package prototypes as deployable, observable and maintainable services.

• Maintain data quality, time alignment, lineage and engineering explainability.

You have X - X years of experience, working as a XY

• • Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Typically 5+ years of industrial software, automation or technical solution experience.

  • Strong proficiency in at least one major programming language (C#/.NET, Python, Java, C++ or TypeScript).

  • Good understanding of software architecture, APIs, databases and software lifecycle practices.

  • Knowledge of industrial protocols including Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT and TCP/IP.

  • Experience supporting customers, field service teams and equipment integration activities.

  • Understanding of IoT, cloud/edge architectures and industrial analytics.

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder management skills.
